Here Comes the {Charming} Bride

The popularity of fall weddings is giving the traditional notion of being a June bride a run for its money! There’s no shortage of rules when it comes to events surrounding a wedding; each encompasses a great deal of etiquette and protocol. I’m sure you’re all set with the timeline for sending invitations and have found the perfect calligrapher to pen them (if not, give me a ring). However, before your trip down the aisle, please be considerate of your guests by keeping the following in mind:

Presence, not presents – Despite common thought, wedding gifts are not a requirement of your guests. Please don’t let your hopes of receiving certain high-ticket items on your registry guide your guest list; lead with your heart. Also, be mindful to not invite the same guest to several showers leading up to your nuptials. The big event and 1-2 showers should be your limit per guest.

Handmade by YOU – Be certain to have plenty of thank you cards on hand for the gifts of time (think vendors) and presents that you’ll receive. Your note should be handwritten – not pre-printed. Wedding gifts should be acknowledged within three months of your “I do”. If the gift was received before the wedding, mail your note within two weeks.

Kid Free Zone – You love kids. Just not at your wedding. Please understand that not inviting children might cause their parents to not attend. This could be for any number of reasons, but most likely due to the cost of hiring a sitter in addition to the average cost of $500 for them to attend your wedding. Consider hiring an event sitting service like Elegant Event Sitters. Parents and kids alike will appreciate your thoughtfulness!

I wish you and your groom all the best as you begin your lives together! If you’re still in planning mode, I’d like to offer you the opportunity to attend StudioWed’s Inspired Bride event on September 8th at the W Atlanta –  Midtown Hotel.

Thank you! There are so many moving parts in wedding planning. Luckily, there are event sitters, like yourself, to make sure the smallest guests are accommodated.
